HISTORY

Mission25, formerly known as "The Lighthouse", is a not-for-profit 501c3 corporation under Interfaith Mission, Inc. We are dedicated to ministering to the homeless and those who are at risk of becoming homeless in Whitley County. In addition to providing shelter, food and clothing to its residents, Mission25 provides an array of support services including case management, self-esteem building, parenting and other types of self-sufficiency programming.

In October 1999, the Columbia City United Methodist Church agreed to let Interfaith Mission, Inc. use the house next door to the church at no cost. Staff members were hired in January 2000 and the shelter opened in February.

The location at 205 North Chauncey was used from February 2000 to November 2002. During that time 60 clients were served – single women and single moms with children. In addition to the original shelter, Columbia City United Methodist Church allowed us to use the apartment next door to transition residents from the shelter to their own housing, while still meeting with a case manager to continue budgeting and goal setting.

In November 2002, we moved to a newly renovated location for the shelter at 500 West Business 30/Columbia City/IN/46725. The shelter has been serving men, single women, single parents with children from 2002 to current.
